MAAE Has Merged with National Arts & Learning Collaborative
For more than two decades, the Massachusetts Alliance for Arts Education (MAAE) has been dedicated to promoting high quality art education for all pre-K through 12 students.
We are happy to announce that we will continue this effort within the organization National Arts & Learning Collaborative. The Massachusetts Arts Education Committee (MAEC) is the new advocacy arm of the National Arts & Learning Collaborative. When the Massachusetts Alliance for Arts Education and National Arts & Learning Collaborative recently merged, MAEC was created to continue the programs and mission of MAAE, as well as its affiliation with the Kennedy Center for the Arts.
NALC's mission
is to "transform schools by providing students with opportunities to learn in and through the arts" by:
• developing community-based partnerships among schools, artists, arts and cultural organizations, and institutions of higher education,
• establishing the arts as part of the core curriculum,
• committing to long term collaborations, and
• developing the leadership capacities of teachers and school administrators through professional development and support.
NALC will become the Massachusetts affiliate of the Kennedy Center's Alliance for Arts Education Network, and is committed to continuing MAAE's key programs such as the Champions of Arts Education Awards and National Symphony Orchestra's National Trustee Fellowship, and expanding arts education advocacy activities. All MAAE memberships will also be honored by NALC.
